I had nightmares about what is currently happening in , happening in my country. I was afraid, we were afraid. We no longer are.

Folks who are new to protesting:

Never sign up for protests online. Never organize online. Just show up the day of with your sign, comfy clothes, and wont-cry-if-you-lose-it water bottle. If you've already signed up, don't do it again.

If you're worried, bring a minute flip phone and write your lawyer's number on your arm.

@virtulis do you have a capacity to / know someone who can help with product design? We need a designer who would understand the problem domain, stakeholders, and build a UX system which knows what user wants before the user. 🥺

Now : a washed frontend engineer who wants to work on a real project and knows how to do this blurry effect, you know.

Now : a washed product designer who wants to work on a real project and knows how to conceptualise novel ideas in slick .

That new CLI GPG pinentry is sure awesome. I wonder how much time till it glitches out.

If you’d know a university degree is completely LLM-free, would you think more of it, less of it, or the same?

The influenza pandemic lasted 1918-1920, followed by the Roaring Twenties gilded age, then the Great Depression in 1929, and eventually WW2.

The COVID pandemic lasted 2020-2023, followed by a current new gilded age, and with this tariff war we face a stock market plummet and potential economic collapse, all while Israel bombs Gaza, Russia bombs Ukraine, and USA bombs Yemen and threatens to bomb Iran.

I wish history didn't have to so accurately repeat itself.

Analysis: "Trump’s Tariffs Give Him a New Way to Dole Out Reward and Punishment"

"Tariffs are a tool the president enjoys… He doesn’t have to go through Congress. He can exercise personal power.

"With tariffs, Trump can exercise a kind of corruption that the country hasn’t experienced in some 150 years—a kind of control that is ultimately incompatible with both democracy and prosperity."

u24.gov.ua/projects

It's the official Ukraine government website, where anyone can make a donation to help Ukraine financially in Euros, US dollars or UAH (guessing its Ukrainian currency, sorry I'm ignorant)

You can choose which category you want your donation to be used for : Defense, Humanitarian de-mining, medical aid, rebuilding Ukraine or education and science. Card or bank transfer. Quick n easy.

humble political proposal

Regarding : I have reread 2024 analysis of project 2025 policies by . They clearly state that conservatively, the will tank 0.7% GDP (it's worse by current analysis) and most of it will hit import-heavy industries, implying that industries like tech won't see an *immediate* detrimental effect. They state, as clearly, that by conservative estimates, the impact on tariffed economies shall be more than twice weaker. (Again, corrected estimates increase the gap, but that's not the point here).

Key observation – it was clear to everyone that this will negatively impact American economy, especially people of low income. Do you think it wasn't clear to trump's policy makers?

If you think it was, what do you think was the actual purpose of this policy?

While we're at it, have a look at distribution of incomes of people conscripted to russian army to die in the meatgrinder (not like I have a compassion for them).

I think that the dots are easy to connect.

@ibk We are so much more than a holiday isle though! Thanks for the deep dive into Tassie number plates. I see old ones all the time and notice the different rhythms of numbers and letters. So it's very interesting to hear the approximate timeline of when they were used and why they changed. I'm a numbers nerd!

Also, I am so tired to hear from the citizens of aggressor countries like russia or israel the argument of "oh, but I have family here, oh I am just a clerk / janitor / blah-blah-blah".

Sure, moving is hard as fuck. But do they actually think that it compares even slightly to how hard it is to be displaced by war? Do people in and tell to russian genocide boys "hold on, I have a job in Bakhmut, can you please do genocide elsewhere while my contract is ongoing"?

No. They pack their bags and leave wherever is less unsafe.

If your country uses military bulldozers on empty roads against humanitarian vehicles, please do everything you can to switch your country or, if you can't, resist.

It's not some sort of abstract idea. Descent into fascism ends with Gestapo at your doorstep, even if you're "loyal" and even if you have "nothing to hide".

It's ridiculous that the people who were meant to "never forget" the most forgot first.
